Global Future Councils Launch Today to Explore Artificial Intelligence Technology
The UAE government, in partnership with the World Economic Forum, is organising the Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils 2024 in Dubai from October 15 to 17, with the participation of more than 500 government officials, experts, specialists, thinkers and futurists from governments, the private sector, academic and research institutions, international organisations and community institutions from 80 countries around the world. They will participate in 30 councils that anticipate future opportunities in five main areas, including technology and artificial intelligence, environment and climate, governance, economy and finance, and society.
The Global Future Councils 2024 aim to establish a common international understanding of future changes in various sectors vital to societies, to enhance cooperation and build common trends to keep pace with them. They also explore mechanisms that governments can adopt to enhance economic development and develop the skills of their citizens, and prepare them for the requirements of life and work in the future. They also aim to promote innovative thinking to formulate a more flexible, inclusive and sustainable future.
The Global Future Councils meetings this year will attract 70 elite CEOs of the world’s leading companies, who will share their visions on the future of sectors and development paths
Leadership Vision
His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Co-Chair of the Global Future Councils, stressed that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, has made the future, its design and implementation an Emirati mission, whose ultimate goal is human prosperity and ensuring a better tomorrow for future generations.His Excellency Mohammed Al Gergawi said: “The strategic partnership between the UAE government and the World Economic Forum continues to develop and achieve achievements that support international cooperation aimed at shaping the future, building on a partnership journey that spans more than two decades, which began with a historic speech delivered by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on the World Economic Forum platform in 2002, to become today a model for joint work to create future opportunities and open new horizons in its economic and developmental paths.” His Excellency added that the UAE government has established an integrated system for anticipating the future, and made it a focus for work based on continuing innovation, sustainable development and modernization, and enhancing proactivity and readiness for the future, and has transformed the country into a platform for shaping the future, and an environment that embraces minds, talents, expertise and innovators from around the world, and a meeting place for those seeking to design and activate future opportunities and employ them to drive the wheel of development and accelerate the process of progress. He praised the partnership with the World Economic Forum in organizing and developing the Global Future Councils, which have become a unique international platform for anticipating, designing and shaping the future.
He said: “The current session of the Global Future Councils will host the elite CEOs of major global companies, to participate in open dialogues with the council members, through which other areas related to the economic sector.

The Global Future Councils will explore ideas, review experiences, and share expertise in closed discussion groups and interactive dialogue sessions, focusing on generating ideas and innovating solutions related to vital areas, within a set of outputs that will shape the agenda of the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos in its next session in January 2025.
An extended journey
Since its launch in 2008, the Global Future Councils have continued to anticipate the future of the sectors most closely related to the lives of human societies, as they have been organized in more than 900 councils over 15 years, including more than 12,000 participants from 100 countries.
The Global Future Councils 2024 focus on key files including innovation for inclusive growth, climate action, nature conservation, energy transition, and building trust to enhance global cooperation.
