Ola Aina now shares what Kyle Walker said after the Nottingham Forest star ran past him in the recent 2-0 defeat.

The England international, widely regarded as one of the fastest (if not the fastest) footballers in Europe, was recently beaten by the Nigerian international at the City Ground in a footrace down the left flank.

Even the Premier League's official social media accounts made sure to post the moment, with an emoji depicting a surprised face.

Now, in an interview with The Guardian, Nottingham Forest's number 43, Ola Aina, has shared what Kyle Walker told him after running past Manchester City's number 2 with apparent ease...

What Kyle Walker told Ola Aina

Speaking to The Guardian, the 27-year-old said: “I remember when it happened, I saw it and thought, I might as well try it, and I put everything into it.

“Then he said something like 'you're pretty fast' and 'you caught me off guard', but he was very calm about it. He has done the same thing to other players many times.”

It was pure evidence that Nuno Espirito Santo has a real speed demon on his hands at Nottingham Forest.

Aina, who also made a bizarre confession about Mark Clattenburg when he spoke to The Guardian, has enjoyed an impressive 2023/24 campaign since he arrived on a free transfer from Torino in July.

The Southwark man has made 21 appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Kelvin Wilson recently revealed that he believes the Nigerian international has been a quality signing.

Nottingham Forest eyeing new contract

Aina only signed a one-year deal in July, meaning he would leave the City Ground as a free agent unless Nottingham Forest offered him an extension.

According to the Telegraph, Garibaldi plans to do exactly that and will trigger an option to extend his contract for a further 12 months following his impressive performances this season.

Nottingham Forest's scattershot approach to recruitment after winning the Championship play-off final in May 2022 was a bit strange, with the signings of Jonjo Shelvey and Andre Ayew particularly strange and frankly unnecessary.

However, getting Aina on a free transfer was a fantastic deal, as was the £3m signing of Callum Hudson-Odoi, a player Gary Lineker believes has improved dramatically under Nuno Espirito Santo.
